Lost rest days equates to 1000+ Police Officers

Police OfficerAccording to this report the Government through the various police forces across the UK has ‘borrowed’ 237,697 rest days from 70,000 police officers to enable events and incidents to be policed as well as possible. There are already indications that the policing of communities is a breaking point and the number of officers available is a significant part of the problem. However if each of these rest days was translated into a replacement police officer, assuming that they get 25 days holiday a year on top of bank holidays, this would equate to 1070 police officers who our nation needs simply to keep things going as they are!
