A letter that has taken 9 months to arrive

Occasionally letters get caught up in the Postal System and take a long time to be found. However when the letter is merely travelling from one MPs Office to that of a Government Minister, it seems hard to explain why after more than 9 months, it has still not arrived. My MP, Caroline Lucas asked a question in Parliament on 3rd May 2018:

“To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, when she plans to respond to the letter of the hon. Member for Brighton, Pavilion of 27 July 2017, Home Office reference J267471, on an immigration case within Brighton, Pavilion.”

The response came from Caroline Nokes who is also responsible for responding to Caroline Lucas regarding her wish to visit Yarl’s Wood detention centre. On this occasion Caroline Nokes responded:

“I apologise for the delay in responding to the Honourable Member. I will respond separately.”

One can only hope that the letter was not a matter of great urgency!
