Come on Steve, focus on seaside designers

seasideJust over a week ago Steve Bassam and Janet Whitaker along with 11 other Lords and Ladies got together to form a group which is called “Regenerating Seaside Towns Committee”. Both Steve and Janet are based in Sussex and so have awareness of several seaside towns on our coast including the city of Brighton and Hove and most of their colleagues on the Committee are also well connected with other seaside settings. Yet when the Committee convened to ‘take evidence from two panels of witnesses. The first panel focuses on the design aspects of regeneration projects’ yet the two people who they interviewed were Wayne Hemingway who has certainly done some work in seaside settings and a gentleman called Mark Latham who works for Urban Splash. Yet the Urban Splash website does not show a single project that I would describe as being a seaside location. It seems vital that Steve will focus on the designers that have experience of working in seaside settings!
