The leader of the House of Commons has once again displayed that his grasp of how to understand his own constituents, let alone the whole of our nation is a long way short of credible. I will confess that I don’t want us to leave the EU and so like many other millions of people in our Nation I am keen for us to stay where we are. By the same token I know that there are many millions of people who are committed to us leaving the EU. Inevitably as a person who wants us to remain in the EU I would be appalled if we left but I accept it is a possibility. However my worst case scenario is for us to leave without a deal as it will destroy our economy and badly damage our health sector and indeed many other matters. So my position is clear. My preference is for us to remain in the EU, but if we leave we must do so with a deal that is credible. I happen to know many people who want us to leave, and like me their departure is ideal if it happens with a Deal. Indeed many of them would be appalled if we left without a deal for the same reasons as I have mentioned. Sadly there are some people who would rather we leave without a Deal. Thankfully there are very few people in that position and when one talks to them there reasons are based on a lack of understanding of what will occur. So for Rees-Mogg to claim that people who are opposed to a No Deal, that they are deceitful because they are also opposed to us leaving is very mistaken. Indeed this is deeply dishonest.
