The focus by our media and public and online discussions are now extensively focused on the events due to take place on 12th December. This of course will make sense to the MPs and political parties and the donors to the political parties. However our nation will probably not benefit from yet another election, given that so little has been achieved since 2017. On the other hand if the focus for the next week could be on the need we have for engineering and the education that will move us into that position we could see a major gain from the next few days. What would it take to revoke the election and instead focus on engineering for young people in our nation?
As I wrote a few days ago in this blog, on Monday evening Lord Kenneth Baker explained to his colleagues in the House of Lords how “The gap in engineering is 203,000; there was no A-level in engineering this year.” So a focus on next years A-levels by our nation could make a huge difference!
