Last Monday in the House of Commons a debate took place regarding C-19 and as I wrote yesterday, the comment from Matt Hancock regarding people who live in Hostels and single room accommodation indicated how little as our Health Minister he appears to understand or care about such people. The comment above from Andrew Griffith took place as part of the same debate and it is clear that just as Hancock fails to understand the sort of conditions that many people in our nation are living in, that Andrew Griffith who used to be Johnsons business adviser has a very poor grasp of what most businesses in our nation including in West Sussex do actually experience. Almost all of which are not standing alongside his Ministerial colleagues and although some are now experiencing a more positive view since Fridays announcement, many others are not as the comment from Jaz below explains. The statement above is much more concerning given that Andrew appears to be overlooking the fact that his Government has completely ignored the need for ventilators for the last three and a half years. Ironically their offer to call on JCB, Rolls Royce and Unipart to make them is presumably partly because at least two of the three companies have stood alongside the Conservative Party in the past!
From Jaz Greer:
Self Employed and Micro/Small Businesses are being left out of current Government support packages. If you do not have a building where you pay rates or eligible for the Small Business Rate Relief you will NOT get the£10K grant.. If you do not have employees then no support is relevant for you…if you are a Director of a Limited Company on PAYE and still got income and work to do you DO NOT get the 80% wage grant as you are NOT on furlough….so all those freelancers, self employed, small businesses who have overnight lost all their income, what support is there for them? Deferring payments of Tax on account and VAT are no good if you have no income to pay them anyhow! So there needs to be REAL support for the self employed and small businesses NOW!! hashtag#smallbusiness hashtag#businessconnection hashtag#selfemployed Please sign this petition as a practical way you can make a difference in this situation…. http://chng.it/vFhYfv6SYj
