Zoom and Shari Eberts deserve applause – can Team do it?

A person I have had the pleasure to connect with via social media is Shari Eberts who is an American person who campaigns for people like her who are deaf. My interest in connecting with Shari is because of the work I do in my company to increase the profile and inclusion of hearing loops and comparable technology. A few weeks ago I noticed that Shari was encouraging people to sign a petition for Zoom to include text provision for people with Hearing Loss. As she writes here the numbers reached 80,000 which does not seem like a huge number to me but Zoom have now agreed to make this change a reality within the next 6 months. One of the challenges that I face is from some commercial and public sector agencies who cannot or choose not to use Zoom and instead use Team. I know that there are other video conferencing systems available but based on my own experience it is Team and Zoom that are the most popular. It would be fantastic if Zoom could move quicker but the faster the better to ensure that people who have poor hearing can benefit from this sort of technology. The question has to be how do we persuade Team and any other well known systems to ensure that text will be an option moving forward.
