Parliament has been closed for this week but it is opening again on Monday and that provides an opportunity for our MPs to be able to ask for the Government to reverse its dishonest approach. If nothing happens on Monday or Tuesday, when the Prime Minister Question session takes place on Wednesday let us hope they do. Two days ago the Daily Telegraph published this article here which is under the headline of “Government asks Met Police not to publish ‘partygate’ investigation photos” and the sub headline stated “Detectives have used more than 300 photographs and 500 pages of evidence, collected by Sue Gray, to investigate 12 gatherings” The piece was written by Tony Diver and it goes on to say “The Government has asked the Metropolitan Police for assurances that it will not publish 300 photographs from its investigation into Downing Street parties amid concerns they would allow staff members to be identified….” Now of course they may claim they are protecting the staff but the staff include Ministers and MPs as well as the Prime Minister. Unless the 300 photographs are published it will prevent honesty from being disclosed.
