On Thursday our Prime Minister visited an RAF Station called Waddington which is located in Lincolnshire. According to the RAF it is one of their busiest locations in the UK. It is the hub of UK Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) and the main operating base for airborne intelligence aircraft and systems. It is a location that includes nearly 3,500 Service personnel, civil servants and contractors. The page on the RAF website is available here.

One can assume that all Prime Ministers will have visited the agencies such as the RAF, the Navy and the Army during their role as Government leaders. However it is not easy to find images of Prime Ministers inside the items that these three agencies use to try to protect our nation or attack other nations. It is possible to see Margaret Thatcher inside a Tank and as the image shows here she sat inside an aircraft. I cannot find an image of any of the other Prime Ministers inside Tanks or Planes apart from this image which appeared at the end of the week with Boris Johnson in. It does seem to be a very strange approach to take from both of these Prime Ministers. Perhaps he is copying the action of Margaret Thatcher so he may appear in a Tank soon!
