When will they provide levelling outcomes information?

Back at the end of December on the 19th December there were four questions raised by Steve Bassam who is a member of the House of Lords and he is the Lord Bassam of Brighton. His questions were on the theme of the public appointments for Regional Levelling Up Directors within the Regional Planning and Development within our Nation. There was one very modest response for all of these questions provided by Baroness Jane Scott who stated

The Government is committed to delivering levelling up outcomes in the best way possible. Further announcements will be made in due course.

So clearly we need to know when the announcements will be made and indeed there could have been a much more detailed response from Jane Scott. Here are the four questions that Steve Bassam asked.

To ask His Majesty’s Government:

what duties they expect regional Levelling Up Directors, when appointed, to fulfil.

what role, if any, regional Levelling Up Directors will have in awarding funding; and to whom will they be accountable for this function.

which stakeholder groups regional Levelling Up Directors will be expected to work with in each region.

whether regional Levelling Up Directors will be (1) budget holders, (2) responsible for the work of junior staff, and (3) line mangers to junior staff.

Given these four questions it would have been a great deal more credible if Jane could have stated some responses or at least told us when these questions will be responded?

Happy New Year Ian, and many thanks for your very informative blogs. On the Levelling Up (ghastly phrase) issue, I was interested to see that Eastbourne received some funding (can’t remember how much, sorry). Now we have our deprived areas of course, but don’t compare with the North East for example. Couldn’t be anything to do with the fact we’re a marginal seat could it?
