Vote Conservative, get Farage

Vote      simptree2                      Get        Nigel_Farage_February_2013

According to a recent article in the Daily Mirror, on Monday 24th June two powerful networks within the Conservative Party are planning to meet with Nigel Farage and some of his UKIP colleagues. It is clear that this is not something that David Cameron is involved in or happy about, which does not auger well for stable leadership in the party prior to 2015 when the party will face you and I. The article suggests that the outcome of the meeting will be an agreement by UKIP not to fight the Torys in some of its target constituencies, providing that at least a couple of UKIP candidates become MPs including Nigel Farage who will then be offered a Ministerial post in a new administration (under a new Tory leader). Having said that if Nigel’s hard work in his current role is anything to go by, they need to make sure he has a department that doesn’t require a lot of hands on involvement!

The discussion on the 24th May will take place against the backdrop of recent reports into Parliamentary Sleaze and the lucrative work of some of our Parliamentarians when not focusing on legislation and constituency business. It seems as though things are getting desperately murky when members and a past leader of one party are striking deals with the leader of another, not on the basis of decisions taken by the electorate, but in anticipation of how these ‘democrats’ have calculated voters will decide. This may suit the well positioned MPs and Lords as they try to ensure they remain in power past 2015, but it does not sit well with me and I am sure I am not alone. These Conservative ‘power brokers’ are in no position to determine if UKIP should win one, two or no seats in the 2015 election, any more than I am. We are supposedly still part of a one person, one vote democracy. It is incredibly offensive for them to spend time and (in the light of the location of the meeting) public money on these discussions.

It is time that this dodgy deal along with any others that are being cooked up by other politicians are exposed just as the dodgy dossier of the last Government was. Our nation needs a Government that has integrity and is transparent in all of its political dealings, not one that chooses to use its energy to try to take power away from the electorate and add political corruption to the existing account of financial corruption.
