70 years, and still too many of us do nothing

images (147)Today is the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the day when we are encouraged to remember the Nazi Holocaust and many of us also choose to remember many other inhumanities vested by men and women on other men and women. The well known quote by Edmund Burke reminds us all that doing nothing is clearly a great deal easier than putting our own lives and reputations at risk. If January the 1st is a good day to set resolutions for our own benefit each year, the 27th January must be an important day to commit ourselves to speaking up and acting up on behalf of others, no matter how unpopular that might make us!
