As one of the Street Pastors in Brighton & Hove, the monthly opportunity to go clubbing on the outside of the various clubs and pubs, attempting with very modest resources to inject some friendly and welcoming words into the evening for those we meet never follows a set pattern. Last night we were involved in an incident that had taken place within one of the Nightclubs and demonstrated just how much care and attention at least one of the clubs do pay to those who come into their environment. A couple who had not had a good evening largely due to drink were given space and time to ensure that they could in the end make the most of their night out in the city, away from family and friends. The dedication of the doorstaff and support team to this objective displayed a huge commitment of resources in a manner that I did not expect. It is easy to read and hear stories from the media that reflect a very different approach to the one I witnessed last night, but it is reassuring to see such an excellent example of well trained and caring staff doing such a great job.
