A tragic loss of life


untitled (235)A Hundred years ago today, on 14th August 1915 Canadian transport HMT ship, the Royal Edward was sunk by a German U boat killing 851 Soldiers and 13 Officers from various regiments across the UK plus crew members. According to German records the ship was sunk in preference to an Allied Hospital ship in the same area, around 6 miles from a deserted Greek Island.
