According to various news reports the last Cabinet meeting of 2015 was held not in No 10 Downing Street as usual, or in a public setting where members of the public could observe our Government exercising its delegated power over the country, but inside the residence of Rupert Murdoch under the guise of a Christmas Party. It is telling that whenever the BBC or indeed any other broadcaster asks for a Government Minister to speak on a given topic, how often no one is available for comment, yet apparently around half of them were available to comment and party with Mr Murdoch and his other friends. One can only wonder at the political judgement of all of these people including John Whittingdale whose job is to oversee the way in which the media operates, to be seen in the company of a man who relatively recently was being cross examined by the Committee that he Chairs. The idea that democracy is safe in the hands of people such as Whittingdale, Cameron and Osborne or indeed anyone else who attended this party is fanciful.
