The tragic death of Chris in a housefire at the age of 48 has cut short the life of someone who was a passionate and tireless campaigner for the needs of people living in St James Street and Kemptown. Chris was always friendly and welcoming at any of the groups and meetings that I attended in the area either in the context of my role as coordinator of Brighton Street Pastors or during my own campaign as one of the candidates for the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner post in 2012. Nothing ever seemed to much trouble for Chris and he always seemed full of ideas to achieve the objectives of the causes which he and his friends were concerned about. Thankfully the number of deaths due to fire are now very small, but to lose such a lovely man as a result of such a dreadful event feels doubly awful. Brighton and Hove have lost someone who was a great advocate and whose voice will be missed by many of us.
