It is not easy being rejected, as a sales person I can say that with some confidence. You work hard to develop coping mechanisms but it is still uncomfortable. As we deliberate about the way we will vote on 23rd June (or sooner if like me you have a postal vote) it would be easy to assume that all in the EU, either want us to remain (the line peddled by the IN camp) or want to follow us out or are so commited to a federal Europe that they will remain until their last breath (the line peddled by the LEAVE camp). Well this morning thanks to Facebook I have news for us. There is at least one other line of thought amongst those who are members of the European Union. A mutual friend is Bo Paivinen Ullersted who wrote from Aarhus in Denmark “we from the rest of the EU want Britain out. Your banks are stealing our tax income. London is a tax-haven hub, and everything that would make acces to tax-avoidance schemes harder for EU business floats my boat.” I hope that we don’t decide to leave. I am voting to remain, but if we do not only do we need to articulate a strong case for a reform of a structure that is complex and inefficient like the European Parliament, we also need to articulate a strong case for reforming our own political and economic structures.
