Something to celebrate

It eleanoris easy to find fault with all sorts of things, good, bad and indifferent. However whilst I have not been a big fan of the i360, because like so many Brightonians I can see it from my house, it would be impossible not to be impressed by the engineering and design work that has gone into its manuafacture. Over the weekend I noticed that the pod had been moving and the same is true again of this morning when it is half way up the pole at 6am. This photo emerged in social media posted by Eleanor Harris who is the CEO of the project, who also posted this message “I got to press the button on the first British Airways i360 test flight! We are opening on 4th August!” A good outcome for the i360 would be lots of people enjoying a unique view of our wonderful seafront and I hope that this is achieved. All sorts of things have been promised and implied by its success in terms of investment in other areas around the pier in the sky. I hope it achieves all that has been promised for it. Well done to Eleanor and her team, and just as importantly to the engineers and construction workers who have made it possible.
