Last Christmas I posted a blog about the seasonal message from David Cameron as Prime Minister. As I pointed out there was little wrong with the message itself, however coming from a man who had overseen five years of the coalition and six months of a Conservative Government, all of his words about the values of Christmas were completely meaningless. As I suggested then, it would be far better for Politicians to stay quiet at Christmas, at least as far as any festive messages are concerned. The same is certainly true of Theresa May, although as yet I have not heard her message. However if any Political figures are to take the spotlight for the most offensive approach to this years holiday, then it has to be my MEP (although he consistently ignores my correspondence and fails almost without exception to represent me in the European Parliament) Nigel Farage. The fact that a few days ago he was articulating how poor his £85,000 MEPs salary had made him by comparison to his broker friends and ex-work colleagues, was an indication that he had lost the plot. He may be right that he could be earning far more, however for the rest of us £85,000 is a very significant salary and bearing in mind it is our money that he is receiving a bit of gratitude would be a good place to start. However clearly he has passed that point in his thinking. What a Christmas Grinch Farage has turned out to be! This is the man whose friends have called on the Government to appoint him as UK Ambassador in Washington. A role that would leave him as the representative of the Queen and Government. This tweet shows just how unsuited he is to be my MEP, let alone a role representing any more than his own prejudices and the few people in UKIP who agree with this bile.
