In the last few days the Executive Orders emanating from the White House and their chaotic nature have taken many of those I know who voiced support for Donald Trump by surprise and caused them to rephrase their support. However not all have the luxury of being able to do that on social media read by only 10 or 20 people. In the case of my MEP who seemed to go AWOL months ago, Nigel Farage has been forced to stand up and be counted. This puts him at odds with the UKIP manifesto which he previously stood up for, having rubbished the previous one that he stood for election on. The UKIP manifesto reads:

Asylum Visas – We will comply fully with the 1951 UN Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees; speed up the asylum process; and seek to do so while tackling logjams in the system for those declined asylum status. We will continue to honour our obligations to bona fide asylum seekers.

Now of course this is miles away from Donald Trumps actions and so when Farage stands up and defends his lift buddy Trump and argues that he agrees with him, he is rubbishing his own parties manifesto. Perhaps in time Mr Farage will simply disappear from our TV screens and be replaced by someone else with real integrity, or at some point he will once again be forced to admit that when UKIP publishes its manifesto, it is simply as a bit of a joke and should not ever be taken seriously.
