Lets #Protecttheprotectors properly

protectThe sight of MPs on social media agreeing to support a private members bill that is being debated today to ensure that anyone found guilty of assaulting an emergency worker will be given a very significant sentence is something that will be widely applauded. The challenge for some of these same MPs is how to square such a focus on the relatively small number of emergency workers when they have been attacked, with a failure to acknowledge the intensively difficult jobs these workers carry out when they are not under attack, but their incomes and resources for their work is sadly lacking. This is not a call to lessen the cross party support for Chris Bryants bill, but rather to go much further and ensure that our emergency services and associated organisations are fully resourced and respected for their hardwork.
