Parliament fails to deal with Cyber Security

petitionThe text above is from my attempt last weekend to raise a Parliamentary petition to call on the Government to carry out a proper Cyber audit of MPs and Peers. Late yesterday Parliament appeared to reject the petition without a word of explanation or indeed without informing me that they had done so. That said the message when I went on line  can be found here and it is not entirely clear what has happened. There may well have been elements of the text which Parliament disapproved of. I did for example mention two MPs who had openly admitted they shared passwords with their office staff, even though this is clearly in breach of the rules of Parliament. According to the Government website:

“If we reject your petition, we’ll tell you why. If we can, we’ll suggest other ways you could raise your issue.

We publish the text of petitions that we reject, as long as they’re not illegal, offensive or confidential.

If you have any other questions, please get in touch.”

So I have sent an email asking for an explanation why the link to the petition has been broken (it was working perfectly well on Friday Morning) without a work of explanation. If you feel like doing the same the petition number is 207004.

It seems deeply concerning that despite the words above, the petition on a matter of national security has been disconnected without a single comment.
