Why computers need passwords

PasswordAs we approach Christmas day, it is inevitable that many people will be opening presents that include lap tops and tablets along with mobile phones. The need for passwords is all about security and as the tweet shown above makes clear, when there are cyber attacks, the need for effective password controls is evident. This makes the admission by Nadine Dorries and Nick Boles that they share their passwords around the office and that other MPs do too, a real concern. If an attack takes place the risk is the whole Palace of Westminster will be closed down. My parliamentary petition that calls on Parliament to audit every office has so far gone down like a damp squib. However as we all prepare for our new technology perhaps you could take 2 minutes to sign the password and improve the security of our Government.
