OFCOM must stay out of party politics

OfcomAs this image indicates, the current Vice Chairman of OFCOM, Sheila Noakes is an active member of a political party. The colour rosette she wears when attending party meetings is frankly irrelevant. One of the roles of Ofcom is to ensure our broadcasters maintain a politically neutral approach when they broadcast to our nation and it is clear that whatever her true approach, that Sheila Noakes will always be seen as a party member which makes her biased when it comes to such a task. Her appointment is due to end in just over a month and so as the post is replaced, it is vital that her successor is free from party politics. Anyone who applies for jobs of this sort would be expected to fill in a form that explains about their political background. It is now time for our nation to find a way of ensuring that such vital roles go to people who have not been members of political parties. Of course being a Tory whilst our nation is run by the Tories will mean the Government will be tempted to replace one of their party members with another. However they must not be allowed to do so.
