This tweet from the MP for Calder Valley makes it clear, reinforced by the retweet from Conservative Party Press Office that the Conservative Party are ready to open up to a new way of doing politics. So before they give us a chance to have our say on the future trade deals with the rest of the world outside of the EU, it is clear that we need our say on the nature of the arrangements with the EU itself. I look forward to seeing what mechanism that Craig and the Press Office have in mind, is it a series of referenda or a series of general elections?. Clearly whatever mechanism Craig has in mind, this will move us into a new paradigm in terms of democracy if we are to have our say on trade agreements. Will this also give us a say on matters such as how much MPs get paid, on how MPs need to behave. Perhaps a say on the extent to which wealthy individuals get to pay Political Parties to have dinner with Ministers?
