The way in which our Democracy operates means that Ministers like Matt Hancock, MPs like Priti Patel who also happens to be an ex-Minister and MEPs like David Bannerman are part of the well paid and highly privileged group of people who are also supposed to primarily be focused on public service. Now while there are no indications that any of these three people are failing to collect their earnings from the taxes paid into the Government by the people that all three are supposed to be working for, or that they are lacking in the privileges that their roles provide, there is a big question regarding how well they understand and carry out the need to serve the public.
Matt Hancock admits after 25 months set out for preparation that rather than achieving any agreement with the EU as we approach our departure date, that we are not going to have any agreement and as such need to spend large sums of money on battening down the hatches and hoping the pain won’t be too intense; Priti Patel is choosing not to admit that her campaign to leave the EU contained some major errors as determined by the Electoral Commission, but rather that she will campaign to undermine the Commission itself; David Bannerman wants the Government to enable those of us who regret the outcome of the referendum to be prosecuted using the Treason rules and claims we are trying to undermine the State.
It seems clear that all three of these people need to step down from their roles so that the constituents of all three and the whole of the country in the case of Matt Hancock can be served in a more effective manner than what appears to be his approach to Brexit. Simply assuming that stockpiling will get us through Brexit is completely ridiculous. It is time for a change and that means we need a chance to vote for a new way forward.
