So Sally-Ann Hart who is MP for Hastings is understandably concerned for the future of her constituency and in particular the fishing industry located in the setting. There are of course some real concerns now that the UK Government may well give the fishing industry very little support in its approach to the free trade deals because of the relatively small elements of the economy that it relates to. However whatever happens regarding the fishing industry and indeed our other elements that are currently up for grabs, the truth is that the EU is very democratic. Its Parliament used to have 74 British MEPs and its decision making is all proposed through the leaders of each of the 28 nations including our Prime Minister. Our Government also had the chance to select and even propose the member of the EU Commission. To suggest that our MPs are more in touch than our MEPs is pure nonsense and for a Government of 650 MPs to be better connected to us than 730 odd MEPs is just as incorrect.
