A few days ago I contacted Katie Scott who is a Mindfulness/meditation teacher and author at Little Sunshine Mindfulness and Yoga. She has just sent out her Taking worry out of the classroom book which she introduced it at ‘Taking worry out of the classroom’ volume one & two provide a range of fun and creative activities to help children reduce anxiety, build self confidence, self regulation, positive relationships and mindfulness. Each activity has the area of learning, benefits, age range and resources needed. It is available here from Amazon and the text from that location that they published is shown below. However it would be fantastic if we could also support her petition (641406) which is entitled Require daily sessions on mindfulness/meditation in schools and it can be obtained from here. It would be fantastic if many of us would sign it. Meanwhile here is the text from Amazon from her book.
We know there is a rise in mental health issues in young people – so what strategies can we put into place?
If you would like to incorporate more mindfulness and self-esteem activities into the classroom, then this is the book for you.
The classroom environment should be a place for children to be creative, explorative and space for them to grow with self-love and self-worth, with the focus on children’s passions and interests. A child who receives this will learn more effectively.
‘Katie was sensitive to the children’s individual and diverse needs and made the sessions fun and engaging for all.’
