Parliamentary Double Standards

There is no actual link between the abuse of power which Caroline Lucas employed as part of her debate on the work of undercover police officers and the abuse of power which Tory MPs employed in the Public Accounts Committee investigation into Welfare to Work. However each has misused the power we entrust to them and it is vital that all of these people get to grips with this abuse of privilege. The Conservatives used the power of Parliament to hide an apparent truth which is protecting their friends in A4E and weaknesses in their own policies. Caroline Lucas on the other hand employed power to expose the reputation of someone for a crime which she admitted that evening on Newsnight she had no evidence for or confidence in. Parliament and Parliamentarians are elected to protect the Innocent and expose the guilty. It is as shameful that the innocent have been exposed as it is that the guilty have been protected. It is also concerning at a time when Parliament is so weak due to the reputation of Politicians, that such abuses are taking place.
