Remembering a great bloke

3d0e3b7Yesterday I received a very sad message announcing the death of a man who I had got to know over the last 5 years. Peter died in the arms of his wonderful wife on Wednesday, having suffered from prostrate cancer for several years. Just like all those whose lives we are remembering today Peter was someone who had a great life ahead of him. Although there is nothing military in the death of Peter, or indeed the illness he was suffering from, the memory of Peter and the sense of loss is no less than those being remembered at the Cenotaph. The need for a few minutes silence is a small act of remembrance, in reality the loss to society is far greater than stopping for 1 minutes. RIP Peter, you were a fantastic person and whilst Annie will experience loss that goes beyond anything the rest of us, all of us will miss Peter and his wonderful points of view and contribution to society.
