Congratulations Sarah and team Grand

Sarah HoyleA national charity called Springboard “helps young people achieve their potential and nurtures unemployed people of any age into work. It helps alleviate poverty by supporting disadvantaged and underprivileged people into sustainable employment within hospitality, leisure and tourism.” The charity holds annual awards and this year one of the awards awarded last night was won by the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. Their award was as the Best Work Experience Provider Award which is fantastic news for the Hotel. The charity also awarded Sarah Hoyle as the Single Ambassador to the Industy award. I have the privilege of working with Sarah on a board called Sussex Skills Solutions Employer Board which is an attempt to help shape the way in which future apprenticeships are formed in East Sussex. It is great news for the Grand and Sarah that they have been recognised for all their hard work. As Sarah and I wait for the Government to announce on Monday what level of funding is available to East Sussex and indeed across the country as a whole to enable apprenticeships to be formed and paid for, let us hope that the Department for Education make the right decisions. Sadly their performance to date has been deeply concerning.
