This morning on BBC’s Andrew Marr show towards the end of the challenging interview which made Johnson look deeply incompetent. He was asked about his own comments regarding Islam and his response was very clear – the things he has written in the past need to be ignored as what matters is his plans for the future. If that is the case why has his party and his campaigning agency constantly focused on the past of some of the other leaders of the other parties?
It is clear that all of us have made mistakes in the past and certainly there has been a great number of mistakes made by all of the party leaders. However if such failures are to be passed over, an apology and admission is vital as is the need to come up with alternative actions to put right their own failures and those of their colleagues. So far there is no indication of any of this from people who make claims that by increasing budgets and increasing employees that they are doing more than ever in the past when in fact they are simply correcting their previous errors.
