In the last 152 years, there have been a number of US Presidents who have been very unhappy with the men who have replaced them after 8 or occasionally 4 years. It is clear that many of them have said some critical aspects during the campaigns. Indeed he is certainly not the first to be offensive about his predecessor or indeed his successor. However it appears that he is the first one in all those years who has refused to attend his successors Inauguration. Despite Trumps constant criticism of his predecessor, Barack Obama did not choose to stay away and indeed there have been many Presidents who have arrived after being deeply critical of their predecessor. Joe Biden has certainly not been as critical of Trump as Trump was of Obama and indeed Trump was very critical of Biden so had Trump decided to attend the inauguration there would have been some very tense elements. However to stay away from the event makes Trump the first President for over 150 years to demonstrate his lack of humanity and indeed his lack of respect for his nation.
