It seems very clear that with the current crisis from the House of Commons over sleaze and a number of other issues that we now need a radical Parliamentary and Political review. It needs to be carried out by ordinary people who represent our nations geography and primarily are not in any way connected with political parties. Along with the current issues regarding 2nd and 3rd and 4th jobs that certain MPs have taken on there is also the way in which the Government releases contracts to some of the businesses who recruit MPs or submit funds to political parties. We are also aware of the way in which voting takes place and the number of MPs and how the House of Lord exists. The fact that the politically run Government determines who becomes members of the House of Lords and so dominates their political supporters within it is another theme. We also need a review to consider the English Devolution setting and how local areas will adopt that in the future.
These are my initial thoughts – it would be fantastic for people to raise their own ideas on this blog response and we could then potentially put together a list of ideas.
