When considering the performance of our Government at the moment it is hard to look beyond the poor quality interviews and debate that Boris and Jeremy are taking part in. However this statement by Nadhim Zahawi proves that we need to persuade our MPs to hold the Government to account for making such ridiculous statements. For Nadhim to claim that the apprenticeship levy has been well delivered indicates that he is clearly sticking two fingers up at the rest of Parliament and Civil Service and the rest of society. Of course as an education Minister he is going to know how much this sentence will wind up his Ministerial colleagues and educational professionals across society, but perhaps because he is not a business Minster he is not so conscious how angry the businesses that pay the levy are, or how frustrated the SMEs who were promised access to the levy 2 years ago and are still waiting are. We can only call on Parliament to challenge Nadhim on this dishonest comment! One of the reasons why he was not challenged at the time is that Parliament works primarily as a series of questions and answers and because the people wanting to ask their question have to wait so long, they tend to ignore the previous answers because they have no direct bearing on their question. So in reality its not just the Tory Government that needs challenging, we need the whole of Parliament to be reformed!
